All set up!!

Some travelled in convoy, having met at Bandiana on Friday morning, while other made their way independently to the campsite and some whimps looked at the weather forecast and decided to give the weekend a miss.

Our Trip Leader had a big map of the area on a tarp and showed us what our plans were for Saturday. We were all looking forward to the drive. Many of the group either hadn’t been there before or hadn’t visited the area for a while. We were impressed with the new pit toilets, close to the camping sites.

This is where we'll be going.

It rained during the night. Hmmm rained?  (It got much worse). On Saturday morning things were looking up, so we headed off to visit some of the huts. Reg had spent a fair bit of time trying to have up to date information about tracks that were open and their conditions. Unfortunately, some of the planned routes could not be completed due to fallen trees.  We will have to do those next time….

One of the many huts.

It was a bit cloudy when we set off to visit Keebles Hut, Old Geehi Hut and Major Clews Hut. We also spotted Dr’s Hut across the other side of the river. Then we made our way back to Khancoban for a leisurely lunch, visited the Op-Shop and then made our way back to camp. By this time it was raining steadily but after a few hours it stopped and the sun came our again.

The rain is on its way.

It RAINED on and off during the whole weekend and we estimated that there was about 50-60 mls.

One of the river crossings.

Some members showed off their fishing skills over the weekend and others their camp oven cooking prowess, treating us to scones (with jam & cream) and the following day cheese & bacon damper, not to mention freshly caught trout for dinner.

Thanks to Reg for a great weekend! We can't wait for the next the next one.
